Best Procedures For 30’s: Botox®
Most people in their 30’s are busy with careers, kids, and relationships and don’t think about aging until they notice a wrinkle or age spot. By that time, signs of aging have set in, especially those due to the deterioration of collagen in the face. This is associated with the development of lines and wrinkles from natural facial expressions such as squinting and frowning. The lines and wrinkles become more or less constant. Over the years, people have become more comfortable choosing to do something about these bothersome signs of age so that they do not worsen. Because it inhibits the progression of lines and wrinkles, Botox® is an anti-aging product whose popularity has soared in recent years. Most people want to keep their faces as they appear at around age 35. Since it is easier to slow the development of lines and wrinkles than it is to remove them later in life, Botox® application is an ideal procedure for people in their 30’s.
WHAT IS BOTOX®?
Cosmetic Botox® (Botox®) is a drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that is made of the neuromuscular blocking agent botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A). It is safe for doctors to use in small doses applied to the skin to treat health problems. Tiny doses of Botox® are injected into patients’ small facial muscles to treat signs of aging such as frown lines between the eyes and wrinkles at the outside corner of the eye (crow’s feet). Botox® helps to prevent wrinkles so that patients don’t have to repair their skin later. An additional use of Botox® is to treat a medical condition called hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating in underarms. (American Academy of Dermatology, American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, U.S. National Library of Medicine)
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BOTOX®?
Botox® offers positive results as the procedure is a convenient and effective method to inhibit the progression of facial lines and wrinkles. Botox® is well tolerated. Patients who receive Botox® treatments when they first notice lines and wrinkles are more likely to maintain their youthful appearance longer. Although repeated treatments are necessary to maintain a long-term effect, this technique clearly represents an attractive option for individuals who wish to avoid a more major procedure to restore smooth skin to a permanently wrinkled face. HOW IS BOTOX® PERFORMED?
At AcquaBlu Medical Spa, when a Botox® procedure is conducted to treat the fine lines and wrinkles on a patient’s face, the Pittsburgh dermatologist will inject very small amounts of botulinum toxin into the targeted muscles. The small amount of toxin will temporarily relax the muscles that are causing the fine lines and wrinkles. The results can last 3-4 months or longer. (American Academy of Dermatology)
When the Pittsburgh dermatologist is treating excessive sweating, the dermatologist will inject the small amount of toxin directly into the skin on the patient’s underarm. A single treatment for hyperhidrosis provides up to six months of relief from excessive sweating. (American Academy of Dermatology)
WHY IS BOTOX® IDEAL FOR 30 YEAR OLDS?
Patients will want to begin Botox® treatments when they first notice wrinkles and fine lines on their face. Many people in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s will try to fix wrinkles and lines after these are fully developed. By using BOTOX® at an earlier stage, people prevent the progression of signs of age (TODAY Health and Wellness). Age is not the only factor to consider because drinking, smoking, tanning, and pollution can also cause subtle changes in the face. Decreasing collagen causes facial skin to lose tautness so fine lines are seen along the natural creases of the forehead, around the eyes, and around the mouth. This usually becomes noticeable when people are in their 30’s, which is when they begin to think about the advantages of minimizing the signs of age. (WellBuzz)
